Postdoc position in Scientific ML at Emory University
The Department of Mathematics at Emory University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in scientific machine learning and optimization, beginning August 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will conduct research on efficient and scalable training algorithms for neural networks, with a particular emphasis on preconditioning methods for stochastic gradient descent. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics, computer science, statistics, or a closely related field by the start date. A strong background in optimization and machine learning is required. Experience with PyTorch or JAX is preferred.
The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of a third year, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
